Who can use ACCÈS REFRAIN?

REFRAIN members and any Canadian non-profit organization (NPO) involved in organizing events.

Which smartphone versions are supported?

For iPhone (Apple), we support devices running iOS 13.4 or later, i.e., iPhone 6S and newer.
For Android, we support devices running Android 8 or later.

Can I use ACCÈS REFRAIN on a computer?

At the moment, the app is only available on smartphones. We are currently working on a desktop version, which should be ready for use in fall 2025.

How much does an annual subscription to ACCÈS REFRAIN cost?

Launch price: $100/year until December 31, 2025.
Regular price: $150/year starting January 1, 2026.

Is a monthly subscription available for ACCÈS REFRAIN?

No, only annual subscriptions are available.

How do I subscribe to ACCÈS REFRAIN?

1-Fill out this form to verify your eligibility for an ACCÈS REFRAIN subscription;

2-Once submitted, you'll receive a confirmation email regarding your eligibility. If eligible, you'll receive a link (via Stripe) to pay your annual subscription online;

3-After payment, you'll receive a unique activation code by email;

4-Download the mobile app from the App Store or Google Play;

5-Create a new account and enter the activation code (we recommend using a general email like info@myevent.com to make it easier to share access within your organization);

How many access codes do I get with my annual subscription?

You get one access per subscription. That's why we recommend using a general email like info@myevent.com when creating your account to allow sharing access within your organization.

Can I use ACCÈS REFRAIN outside my workplace?

Absolutely! With ACCÈS REFRAIN, you can view all posted offers and requests from anywhere. To tailor your search, click the "location" icon next to the search bar on the bulletin board to adjust the search radius.
To change your location, go to the “Profile” section and update your address under “My Information.” Handy, even on the go!

What should I do if an item I loaned is returned damaged, lost, or stolen?

The golden rule of ACCÈS REFRAIN is simple: items must be returned in the same condition they were in when borrowed. Treat every item as if it belongs to your own organization.
Although ACCÈS REFRAIN is a sharing tool, we recommend agreeing in advance on a procedure with the lender in case of damage. In general, if an item is damaged, the borrower should repair or replace it. ACCÈS REFRAIN and Partage Club are not responsible for loans.



Can I donate equipment?

Any donation proposal or agreement must be arranged directly between the two parties.

Can I set a schedule for when my equipment is available to share?

Yes. A calendar will allow you to indicate when each piece of equipment is available or unavailable. Since you remain the owner, you are free to decide when your equipment can be accessed by others.

What if the equipment I lent is returned late, past the agreed return date?

The Calendar feature allows you to manage return dates. Persistent lateness or repeated delays by a user could lead to account suspension. Trust is a core value of ACCÈS REFRAIN, and respecting loan terms is essential. If you experience repeated delays, don’t hesitate to contact us at accesrefrain@lerefrain.com.



I want to delete my ACCÈS REFRAIN account. How do I do that?

To delete your ACCÈS REFRAIN account, log into the app. Go to Profile > My Preferences > Delete Account. Then, you can uninstall the app.

Will there be a point system, exchange currency, or barter model?

No. Our aim is to reduce overconsumption and underuse of equipment by encouraging a shift in behavior: if you need something, think of borrowing instead of buying.
We want to support and uplift both those who borrow and those who generously share their resources. We're not interested in penalizing borrowers — quite the opposite. We want to celebrate and value those who participate in a spirit of kindness, collaboration, and solidarity — far from purely transactional relationships.
We believe it’s time to move away from the reflex to calculate everything. We’re creating a space where asking is encouraged and appreciated.

What do the “sharing fees” sometimes shown with equipment loans mean?

Sharing fees cover costs incurred to enable the loan of equipment — for example, labor costs to retrieve the item from storage and/or transport fees, prep time, or other expenses necessary to finalize the loan.
